Dr. Patel is a fellow of The Faculty of Dental Surgery (FDS) at Royal College of Surgeons of England. The fellowship was awarded following successful completion of the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination in Restorative Dentistry. The FDS is a professional body committed to enabling dental surgeons to achieve and maintain excellence in practice and patient care.

Dr. Patel is a consultant in Restorative Dentistry within Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Consultant, he is the clinical lead for Dental Trauma and Endodontics within the Department of Restorative Dentistry. The Royal London Hospital is an officially designated major trauma centre in the UK, providing treatment following road traffic accidents, falls, assaults and other traumatic injuries. Dr. Patel is part of the multidisciplinary team that provides care for patients who have sustained injuries to their teeth and tooth supporting tissues.

Dr. Patel has an honorary position as a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry with the QMUL. He is actively involved in training postgraduate students and junior dentists in implant dentistry as well as other aspects of restorative dentistry. He regularly lectures to postgraduate students and General Dental Practitioners both locally and nationally. As a member of the QMUL faculty Dr. Patel is also a co-investigator in a research project that has received £500k in MRC funding to assess the effectiveness of a new injectable bone graft material used to replace missing bone in implant dentistry.  Dr. Patel is also actively involved in various other on-going projects within the department.

International Team for Implantology (ITI)

The ITI is a worldwide Association of professionals in implant dentistry. The objectives of the ITI are the promotion and dissemination of knowledge about implant dentistry and related fields. In 2015 Dr. Patel was awarded fellowship to the ITI. He is also a recognised speaker for the organization and a member of the faculty for the Foundation in Implantology Course run by the UK and Ireland section of the ITI.

British Society For Restorative Dentistry

Dr. Patel was elected as a council member to the society in 2012 for a 3 year term. Since completing his term in 2015 he has become a co-opted council member and represents the society on the organising committee for PanDental conference in 2015.
